Janssen and Arts on top at 3rd AMCA race club at Apeldoorn !

Rob made the perfect hattrick, with best lap, pole position and overall wins, while his team mate Richard Arts, qualified third behind Eric Mulder finish on second place on the podium !! Another great job from the Team Magic Dutch drivers !

Original race report from Rob Janssen:

Last weekend me and Richard went to our local club for our clubrace #3.

In the morning we couldn’t do any runs duo to heavy rain. But lucky as we were from the qualifications to the last final we could do dry runs (low grip). In qualifications I didn’t change anything to set-up as the track was becoming better and better and felt the car become better and better.

I choose to start this race on old tires as I felt it wouldn’t be worth starting on new on the low grip. Also I know the car is good on new but needs improvement on used tires. All three qualifications I was fastest so could start from TQ in front of Eric and Richard (also old tires) on third position.

All three finals were pretty easy for me as I could make it from start to finish in front.

Behind me, especially the start, was a little chaos sometimes.

I felt the car was good balanced but due to the low grip and fast time schedule (40 minutes between heats) there was not that much room for testing anything.

Original Report from Richard Arts:

Arriving at a dry track,  15 minutes later a serious downpour drowned the it. Rain coming and going, meant no practice the whole morning and afternoon. Qualifications were postponed,  as predictions were showing a dry evening.

At around 4pm the qualifications started with zero grip on the track. Rob and I decided to run on used tires,  and use the race also as test. My pace was reasonable for the conditions, but the car was difficult to drive. I Changed my setup to try and get rid of the snap oversteer in midcorner. For Q2, the car was much better to drive,  an was able to take 2nd spot. In Q3,  Eric had good speed and pushed me down to 3rd place. Rob again taking TQ with fastest times in all 3 qualifications.

The finals I started from 3rd spot, which is actually not that bad as that is where the racing line is.  In the first final,  I was able to place my car on the inside of Eric’s, in the first corner, staying away from the corner 1 chaos. The setup changes Rob and I discussed worked pretty well, just needed to get a bit more grip from the tires.

Both finals 2 & 3 had a more difficult start.  Getting caught in the 1st corner,  sending me to the back of the field.  Working my way back to the front,  I would finish in 3rd an 4th spot. Being on equal points to Jan,  Clubrace rules are that the qualification result is the decider. So podium result: 1st Rob,  2nd myself,  3rd Jan.
