Hello All

Last year, I learned a lot with Steven Weiss, an incredibly good person, who joined us last spring. I can only regret not having known him earlier. In a very moving letter, he recently announced me that he would retire from RC Racing, and that Team Magic will be surely his last team.

Here are some parts of his letter:

Hello Lionel,

I have not so good news for you and also me, I hope you can understand. Follow sentences I will explain my actually situation. 

My life changed a lot in the last two Years and now I am on a point, I cannot more spent time for RC Racing and I will stop it for now. Now it comes from nowhere, but I take some time to think about that and for me is the best to step back from RC. Begin of 2016, I was close to stop, but then comes the opportunity with Team Magic. (…) Now I have to say, it was one of my best time with you and the team in my RC life. We had a lot of fun, you did a perfect job as a Team Manager, great. On this point, it is more harder for me to write this letter to you. I am now over 16 years in RC and I am happy with what I reach in these years. I had never perfect support like most top 10 drivers have now, I always do all by myself and that makes me proud. (…) You have to know, in the short time with Team Magic, I always do my best for the Team and I wish I had reach better results, sorry about that. But I think we improved a lot, we are one of the smallest team and company, but we always racing in the top 30 in Europe and Patrick has a great year in Stock. (…)

Now it starts again another hard time for me without RC Racing and I will miss it a lot and I will miss more all the good friends. I hope you can understand my situation and I will thank you for your support and trust, very sorry about that! But I will not say I race never again. I still have an ear for you and you can always ask me what you want. If I find time, I will still go for some practice runs and will visit a race.

I feel really bad to tell you this; I hope you understand! I wish you and the team all the best! you are on a very good way and you make a great job! 

You need not to keep secret what I write in this email or my situation why I stop RC, that’s life and I am an open people.

As I said, I only regret to had meet Steven so late in his RC carrier, because he is for sure somebody very loyal, and very human, and of course very pleasant to work with.

I sincerely wish all the best to Steven, in every aspect of his life; and I thank him a lot for the past year in the team.

Globally, I can say I have the chance to have very nice people in my team. For me, it’s for sure not business. Some are gone to other team and this touched me deeply, because my dedication to this team is for sure not a job, I have the same passion for RC racing than the racers themselves. I stopped to race myself in 2013 to take care about my team drivers and to manage the team the best I can.

Being team manager for both Team Magic and HRC is my personal choice; it’s not my job; it’s not part of my contract with HRC or TM. I do it on my own free time, and I pay myself a large part of my travel costs. Developing the TM car and managing the team and helping the drivers to get results is my own passion, like many of you are passionate to race themselves.

From my side, I tried for years to bring up Team Magic / HRC team to the top, and I’m very happy that some new drivers joined us; I’m sure we could do some good job in the near future. I learned a lot this year, with the great help of Patrick Gassauer, Steven Weiss and many other drivers; thank you to all of them, even if I can’t mention you all.

Here I wish to especially thanks Patrick, who always do his best for the team and for the brand. Patrick always try all he can do, and had very nice success, like being the only “non-Xray” driver to drove a TQ run last summer at the Hudy Arena, with a nice 4th place, like previous year in Luxembourg and last week-end in Germany. Patrick is also very loyal, and is part of the team since years. Thank you my friend !

I also would thank Kevin Ting (TM Taiwan) and Stefan Hartweg (HRC) for their confidence and to let me manage their interest and brand image through the team with so many freedom.

What a great result for Team Magic / HRC Racing ! Patrick Gassauer joined the A-final, and finished on a very nice fourth place during the round 2 of the ETS series in Germany.

Patrick arrived very confident to this race, after a great second place with lap record during the TOS held one week before the ETS round 2. His E4RS III Plus worked really great in similar conditions (ETS carpet, with same tires and additive) during this TOS race; so he knows his current basic carpet setup is working great.

During the first qualification, Patrick obtained a fantastic 2nd place, which has been the key-round to enter the A-final, combined with a 7th place in qualification two. Other rounds have been more difficult with traffic and grip change.

In first final, he obtained a lucky fifth place, with a difficult car and an “unclear” race with many contacts at many levels. Second final was also very difficult due to hard battles.

For the third final, Patrick decided to be really careful in the start and first lap, as the two first finals was a bit chaotic during this phases. So, he started really smoothly and found a way to pass many cars after a crash involving three cars in front of his Team Magic car. So, at the end of the first round, he pointed on third position, and decided to manage this nice place without taking risk !

This is a very nice result for Team Magic and our E4RS III Plus, and of course for Patrick himself, who deserved this fourth place.

Patrick worked a lot to develop Team Magic TC cars, and is a very loyal and appreciated driver; it’s great to saw him one more time in A-finale, to get his third 4th place in a ETS event (Luxembourg 2015 / Slovakia 2016). We now wish him to finish on the podium !

last week-end was the  fourth and last round of the very popular Winter Series of the MRC Longwy.

In Modified Category, Rémi Callens, finished on the third place of the podium with his Team Magic E4RS III Plus behind Olivier Bultynck and Lucas Urbain, a very nice result.

Team Magic driver, Martin Sørlie, wins the third round of the Norwegian Cup at Trondheim in Norway, as well as the Saturdays club race organised as training.

Team Magic driver Patrick Gassauer finished on a very nice second place of the very popular stock division during the round 3 of the division west/mitte of the TOS, at the new Arena33 racing track.

After qualification, the three first drivers was in equality of points, both with a TQ run, and the overall time had to separate them. Chrsitian Donath obtained the TQ, Patrick Gassauer the second position, and Frederik Broløs Mikkelsen the third position on the grid.

During the final, the classification for the three first driver didn’t changed; so Patrick maintained his second position on the podium. Great job.
