Team Magic / HRC driver – Rob Janssen, obtained a great 2nd place at the round 5 of the 1/10 Touring Modified Dutch Nationals, at Groningen.
Here is the original report of Rob Janssen:
On saturday in practise I was able to do some nice runs and set the pace when it came down to laptimes. The grip on the car felt very good. I only fine tuned it to make it a little easier to drive on the bumps by changing shock oil and stabilizers.
On sunday the qualifications started very good as I made a TQ run in the first run with the only one driving 19 laps. The second run was not that good as I broke a rear belt in about 2 minutes. The last round was good, but not as fast as the first.
In the first final i was able to make a little gap in the first 2 laps. After that the distance with nr 2, Mitchell v. Es, stayed the same for a while.
Unfortunately half way the race I lost my car on a big bump on the short straight in the middle of the track and ended up in the grass. I battled back to second but was not able to come back to the first place.
The second final started almost the same as the first. For a while the distance with Mitchell stayed the same (this time with a smaller gap). This time it was not a bump that costed me the first place but it was me flipping my car on the curbstone by entering the mainstraight. Also this time i was able to come back to second.
The third final also started the same, and also costed me first place on the same corner, grrrr. Again i flipped the car by entering the main straight. This time it was a harder battle to come back more forward to the field as many drivers made a real clean run. After 3 minutes i was back in third place and was really closing in on the nr. 1 and 2. At the finish line it was a fotofinish for second place. If the race has had one more lap for sure i could have tried to make a move for first place.
Great performance Rob, congratulations !
